The Amazing Racist
A friend told me about The Amazing Racist video(s) on YouTube, so I decided to look at it myself. Funny how far some people would go for entertainment, or to entertain others.
After looking around, turns out this video was a skit from the National Lampoon Presents:Lost Reality DVD and the guy’s name is Ari Shaffir. Jewish. No suprise there.
Ari’s friend talks about him here. Ari’s also got a Wikipedia entry with links to his skits. He was also spotted in a tv ad for IBM. Some of the comments about the skit(s) in those blogs are almost as funny as the skit itself (in a racist sort of way), with some of the commentors descending into/resorting to/reveling in petty name calling.
So, am I a racist for finding this video funny? The idiot did have another skit with him selling stuff outside a mosque, wearing a jewish skullcap. What kind of stuff you ask? Stuff like a black t-shirt with the words “My parents went to Mecca and all they brought back was horrible body odor” and a desk calendar themed “The Girls of Islamabad”. Haha. To quote Faith No More;
It’s always funny until someone get hurt… And then it’s just hilarious!

I think this is very easily misconstrued as genuine racism, hence the offensive flag.
Not something I want my kids surfing to by accident!
