BinYou & BinMe

Just between you and I, I hope Jasin MP Datuk Mohd Said Yusof gets roasted alive, but I’m not holding my breath. We’ve all witnessed cover-ups and whitewashes before, haven’t we?

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz said Mohd Said has been called before an inquiry panel led by Deputy Prime Minister and Barisan Nasional chief Whip in Parliament Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

We all know how the good Datuk failed to mention that the bumiputra forwarding company he was “helping” was his own. Does he even feel guilty for being the reason (indirectly, at least) for Datuk Shahrir Abdul Samad’s resignation as the Backbenchers Club chairman?

Let’s hope the facts of the inquiry are made public. Lim Kit Siang however raises some interesting points regarding the inquiry committee, the “four-Minister BN Whip panel”, and the role of the Whip itself.

If Nazri is right, then the four-Minister BN Whip Panel has no locus standi whatsoever to hold any hearing to grill Said, as the function of a Whip is to ensure party discipline inside Parliament and has no role and function to deal with matters happening outside the four walls of Parliament.

My question is, why a BN panel? Why not a parlimentary committee? If it was an Opposition MP in the crosshairs, would the BN allow an Opposition Whip Panel to conduct an inquiry? Methinks not.

I say, let the ACA go to work (preferably with a heavy, blunt object) on Datuk Mohd Said. And is Datuk M. Kayveas following in Datuk Mohd Said’s footsteps?
